The service
Situ is an app that connects families travelling in Thailand with caregivers for babysitting, au pair care and non-medical help for older adults. Before a caregiver can take jobs, she is interviewed and her identity, police clearance and first-aid training are checked. A Situ team follows each booking through the app and can step in when needed.
Your account
You need to be 18 or older to book. Keep your sign-in private: you are responsible for bookings made from your account and by family members you invite. The details you give about the people in care, including allergies, medication and health notes, must be accurate and kept up to date.
Bookings
You see the price before you book. A booking is confirmed when a caregiver accepts it and, when Situ proposes a caregiver, once you approve her. Care runs from the moment the caregiver scans your code at the start to the moment she scans it at the end. A minimum duration applies, and an extension needs the caregiver's agreement and a new price.
Payment
When you add a card, Situ checks it with your bank without charging or holding any money. When care ends, the card is charged by itself for the time actually used, at the prices you saw. Tips are optional, charged separately and go to the caregiver in full. If a charge fails, new bookings wait until it is settled. Receipts are in the app.
Cancellation
Cancelling is free while we search for a caregiver, and when a caregiver cancels or is late. For a booking for right now, cancelling is free for 5 minutes after you approve your caregiver. For a scheduled booking, cancelling is free until the time shown when you book (usually 12 hours before the start); after that the fee shown applies. If no caregiver is found, you pay nothing.
During care
Caregivers stay at the care address unless you ask for a walk and the Situ team approves it. They don't swim with children, drive them anywhere or give medical care. The care journal shows updates and photos. The Situ team may look in through the caregiver's phone during care to check that all is well; nothing is recorded.
Safety
In an emergency, call the local emergency number first, then press SOS in the app: the Situ team is alerted at once. The team may pause or end care when safety requires it. At the end, only the adult whose code the caregiver scans can take over the care.
Respect
Treat caregivers with respect and give them a safe place to work. Don't ask them to do things outside the booking, and don't arrange paid care with a Situ caregiver outside the app. Situ may close accounts that break these terms.
Liability
Situ works hard to vet caregivers and follow every booking, but it cannot guarantee a caregiver's availability or behaviour. To the extent the law allows, Situ is not liable for indirect losses, and its liability for a booking is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here limits rights that the law does not allow to be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms. The app tells you when they change, and the version in force when you book applies to that booking.
